Methane pyrolysis converts natural gas into hydrogen and high-value solid carbon. The pilot will assess the technology’s technical, commercial and market viability, including the potential use of hydrogen for generation of low-carbon power.

The agreement was signed on 30 October 2026 in the presence of His Excellency Dr Sakari Puisto, Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland, and Dr Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry), Singapore.

As AI and digitalisation reshape energy demand, we are exploring innovative pathways to deliver reliable, lower-carbon power while unlocking new value from advanced carbon materials. Together, these opportunities can strengthen Singapore’s position as a regional hub for clean energy innovation and advanced materials, supporting industrial growth and the global energy transition.
